Dear friend,
Fast-fashion is destroying to planet and we need to do something about it. The industry is one of the largest water polluters in the world and is responsible for 10 percent of carbon emissions. Did you know that farmers near garment factories can tell the colours of a season by just looking at rivers nearby?
Compared to 2000, we now buy 60 percent more clothing items, but keep each item half as long. Almost 60 percent of all clothing gets thrown out within the first year of their production. On top of that, 40 percent of all clothing never even gets worn once.
We, consumers, are a part of the problem but what do we do about it? Recycling is the first thing that comes to mind but there's no consensus that it's doing all that well.
That's why, inspired by the Vegan and the Ginger, we decided to organise the Kinder Fashion Swap!
It was a success, to say the least. Everyone brought so many good, fashionable items, and everyone left with at least a new piece of clothing they loved. I'm still thinking about this spiky denim jacket, should I have kept it?
As the first one was such a success, we've decided to organise even bigger and better clothing swaps in the future. Keep an eye out for the next one!
